The Malta Qualifications Council held the second CEDEFOP- ReferNet National Consortium Meeting. The meeting was held at the Institute of Tourism Studies in Pembroke. Over 30 participants attended this meeting including various representatives from the nine Consortium partners. The media was also invited to this event. The meeting was opened with an address from the Chairperson of ITS Ms Claire Zammit Xuereb and the Chairman of the Malta Qualifications Council Mr Joseph Abela Fitzpatrick. Dr James Calleja Chief Executive MQC chaired the meeting. Dr Suzanne Gatt, Researcher also addressed the meeting and spoke about the National Report on Vocational Education and Training (VET) which was compiled and presented to CEDEFOP - ReferNet with the help of the Consortium partners.
Refernet is a network which provides information on National Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems and policies. This information is displayed in CEDEFOP databases and is used for comparative studies.
The Malta Qualifications Council is the National Consortium Leader, the other Consortium Partners are the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), the Institute of Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage (ICMCH), the Employment and Training Corporation (ETC), the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry (MCCEI), the General Workers Union (GWU), the Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM), the Malta Federation of Hair and Beauty Therapists (MFHBT) and the Malta Printing Industry Association (MPIA).
