The Mutual Recognition Coordinator is responsible for activities of the Designated Authorities in Malta and promotes uniform application of the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications Act (2002).
The Designated Authorities in Malta furnish the Mutual Recognition Coordinator with any requested information as he may reasonably require for the purpose of his functions under the Act. The Mutual Recognition Coordinator also promotes uniform application of the Directive 2005/36/EC on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications. It is the responsibility of the Coordinator to collect all the information which is relevant for application of this Directive, such as on the conditions for access to regulated professions.
In Malta there are 26 Designated Authorities and 72 Regulated Professions.
The Mutual Recognition Coordinator is appointed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and is currently held by Dr James Calleja Chief Executive of MQC.
